State Veteran Facilities

seal

The State of Michigan has two State Homes for Veterans.  They are the Grand Rapids Home for Veterans located in Grand Rapids, MI and the D.J. Jacobetti Home for Veterans in Marquette, MI.  The mission of these facilities is to restore health and maintain existing functions, enabling veterans the opportunity to enjoy their remaining years to the fullest.

Eligibility requirements include members of the Armed Forces of the United States who have been honorably discharged and have served not less than 90 days of active duty. Members of the National Guard, however, are not eligible unless called into active duty for not less than 90 days.

Eligible veterans must be residents of Michigan at the time of admission or must be an accredited Michigan veteran. Eligible veterans must also be considered unemployable.

In addition, spouses and surviving spouses are eligible for services at these two facilities.

The cost to live at the Grand Rapids Home for Veterans and the D.J. Jacobetti Home for Veterans is determined by a monthly assessment, based on the member’s ability to pay.  Applications for the Grand Rapids Home for Veterans and the DJ Jacobetti Home for Veterans are available online.
