The Michigan Veteran Affairs Agency (MVAA) Employment Summary website should be your first stop.  This website has links to resources that will assist in your transition from the military to the civilian sector.  This site includes job search, resume building, starting a business and other links.  Michigan veterans with certain skills are able to get their licensing fees waived as a result of the experience & training that they received in the military.  Employers understand the value of hiring veterans.  In certain instances there are tax advantages to hiring a veteran.

Whether you are recently discharged, unemployed, looking for career enhancement opportunities, or starting a veteran owned business, your honorable military service provides you with access to numerous resources that will assist you achieve your goals.

Career Events Calendar
A variety of job and career fairs take place across the state of Michigan to bring job seekers and employers together.  Attending an event will help to expand your network, creating opportunities to engage with and get feedback from employers.  It’s a great way to connect with future employers.


Employment Specialists for veterans are available through local Michigan Works offices.  Disabled Veterans Outreach Workers (DVOW) and Local Veteran Employment Specialists (LVER) assist veterans and eligible spouses in need of additional help in securing appropriate employment.

Veterans Employment Training Services US Department of Labor - VETS proudly serves veterans and service Members.  They provide resources and expertise to assist and prepare them to obtain meaningful careers, maximize their employment opportunities, and protect their employment rights.

VetJobs.com – owned and operated by veterans for veterans.  VetJobs is available to assist all members of the United States Military Family.

Federal Veteran Employment– A one stop shop for veteran interested in employment with the federal government

Employer Support of the Guard and the Reserve (ESGR) – Department of Defense agency that was established in 1972 to promote cooperation and understanding between Reserve Component Service members and their civilian employers and to assist in the resolution of conflicts arising from an employee’s military commitment.

PTAC of South Central Michigan– Help for local business owners who want to grow their business with government work, whether it’s Federal, State, or local.  PTAC’s are a non-profit organization, funded by DoD & the State of Michigan to assist with registrations, reading solicitations, marketing to the government, alert you to trainings & matchmaking events, send you opportunities you might want to bid on from over 2,200 different websites, & more.
